Henry -
Well, I was afraid that he was getting closer to the edge of his time and that’s why I wanted to move him from the dark room we stayed in over the last 6 months to our lighter brighter home, where he can roam around and enjoy his remaining days freely.
Unfortunately, he started acting funny a few days ago… and I realized he was bumping into things and looked confused. His eyes were completely dilated often.
Henry has lost his sight due to hypertension. He’s now blind. 💔 He’s also losing quite a bit of weight. But he’s purring and still making his way around places. He’s had a good run for 19 years. I’ve had him for the past 7, since my divorce. He has certainly provided me with love and companionship, and I will do the same for him for his last remaining days.
So far, he doesn’t seem to be in any pain. It could be days or it could be weeks, but it’s not going to be long. And the first sign of discomfort, I will bring him in. He’s been the best cat I could have hoped for. It will be hard to say goodbye. ❤️

I see him.
He sees me.
Now we do the dance.
In foreign lands, years ago when jellies weren’t invading the skies, this happened too. There was a language barrier then. There’s a trust barrier now. I can see it in the man’s face as he stands on a rickety porch. His eyes are mere slits and a cigar levered from his bottom lip. His potbelly peeks out from under his stained ribbed tank top and the elastic band of his charcoal gray elastic shorts aren’t holding up their end of the bargain either. He has a shotgun, too. It’s bigger than mine and it’s probably loaded with slugs, not birdshot.
The girl cowers behind me.
“Stay close,” I whisper. “But if he shoots, run a zig-zag.”
She eyes me squirrely. I know nothing apparently, but I do know this. We need a map or a mobile charger so that I can use my phone soon. I’ve had enough of this weird day and…
