Thank you, so much!

It doesn’t matter how much you prepare yourself for what you know you must do, when it happens, it’s devastating. It will take me some time to heal from Henry’s loss. I too, wish he’d had more time in our new place, but he had a chance to love the sunshine beams and all of his typical haunts in our living space and free range of the outside patio for a short time.

But after the blindness, he began to avoid eating and declined quickly over the last few days and at times overly confused despite my reassurances. He wasn’t in pain but a kind of awful anguish and that is also a torture no loving owner wants for their pet. The vet said it was time before the physical pain ravaged my beloved friend.

So alone, I held him swaddled like an infant, trusting, as he died in my arms. And I will miss him, so very much.

But this morning, I feel so loved by the outpouring of emails, texts, and replies. Thank you, everyone so much! It is a great comfort.
