Chapter 7

I stand beside Sharon on the porch the following morning, staring at the white mountain. The whole world is white. The branches on the trees are heavy with a thick layer of snow. The red car has almost disappeared beneath the snowy blanket on its roof and hood, and I can’t see the wheels. Even the lake down below is smooth with a layer of ice that formed on the surface.
