Some of you have already noticed. But I’ve made an executive decision that affects 67% of you. That’s a high number, but it’s how much of my royalties on Amazon are affected by Kindle Unlimited’s decline. And folks…that’s just not fair to anyone in the long run.
You’ve read that number up there right? 200-page reads for $0.77. That’s how Kindle Unlimited works. Really any subscription service. You pay a monthly club fee to the club organizer and get to read books freely. But what does that mean for writers or musicians or anyone under this regime?
It means, while the big river’s CEO gets richer and readers enjoy free reading for a low cost…it’s awful for authors. We literally make less than half a cent per page you read that right. And it’s a declining commodity. And 67 percent of my royalties from this scheme are page reads and the kicker is…I have to wait 60 days for those royalties. This simply does not work for me or anyone else. This causes authors to produce faster…
